ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

SC/ST Committee is to Ensure Equal Opportunity and Social Justice to the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes students by providing them equal opportunities in the fields of education

Ensure that students belonging to the category should get their due scholarshipØ and other benefit from the various schemes of the government  To extend support in the form of learning opportunities by organizing extraØ coaching, remedial classes so as to bring them in par with good performers. 

To ensure equality among all the staff and students by counselling and sensitizingØ the stakeholders.  The Committee regularly organizes interactive sessions and informal meetingsØ with students to attend to their personal, social and academic problems

OBJECTIVES:

  1. To ensure provisions where all such students feel safe and secure.
  2. To provide prompt counselling for any emotional emergencies arising on account of any events at the campus.
  3. To provide a mechanism to redress the grievances of SC, ST and minority students, if any.
  4. To ensure protection and reservation as provided in the constitution of India.
  5. To arrange for special opportunities to enhance the career growth of these students such as competitive examination coaching.
  6. The SC/ ST and Minorities Cell will provide comprehensive preventive and proactive services to all such students enrolled for various academic programmes in the college.
  7. The goal of the cell would be to enhance the psychological wellbeing of SC/ ST and Minority students so they can take full advantage of the educational opportunities at the college. The guidelines of UGC will be adopted time to time.

FUNCTIONING OF SC/ST CELL:

  • Function as the grievances of SC/ST students of the college and render them necessary help in solving their academic as well as personal career problems.   
    Any other work assigned from time to time to promote higher education among these two communities suffering economic, social and educational deprivations.
  • To counsel and guide SC/ST students and help them to manage academic and personal issues of college life effectively.
  • To ensure provisions of an environment where all such students feel safe and secure.
  • To aware the SC/ST students regarding various scholarship programs of State Government and UGC.
  • To circulate state Government and UGC decisions about different scholarship programs.
  • To communicate with the students and motivate them for better future planning

ACTIVITIES OF SC/ST CELL:

The SC/ST Cell was established in the college to co-ordinate in the implementation of the various policies and programmes launched by the Central Government, MHRD, UGC and State Government for the benefit of the SC/ST students.   
It also undertakes the activities to develop awareness among the SC/ST students, especially from the rural areas. The faculty members of the Cell are actively engaged in coordinating and solving the problems in matters related to SC/ST students.   
Announce details of free coaching programs, start-ups, government scholarships and fellowships through circulars to the SC/ST students from time to time as and when notified by Central Government, MHRD, UGC and State Governments.
